In 2012, Christmas presentation launched on Saturday 1st December on ITV1. For a channel that is set to completely change its on-air identity in January 2013, it's a rather stunning affair that mixes clockwork toys spinning around a carousel that houses famous soap landmarks, and is populated with black and white Edwardian-style drawings of people.

Mainly used to introduce the news, the first version of this ident is forwards and backwards pan down and up through the layers of the clockwork Christmas tree. This gives quite a jerky experience and it was replaced within days by a slower pan down the tree. However, this does mean that the reindeer are going backwards...
