On Thursday 19th October 2017, the BBC staged BBC Children In Need Rocks The '80s, a very special fundraising concert at The SSE Arena, Wembley to celebrate the decade in which BBC Children in Need’s first major appeal took place. The concert was broadcast on BBC ONE on Monday 13th November, introduced in all nations with the '80s 'mirror globe' symbol.
The Northern Ireland symbol is a widescreen recreation of the 1981 symbol by Dave Jeffery. Wales used a recent recording of their original mechanical model which, with time, has unfortunately lost a little of the mirror's silvering leading to the speckled effect on the reflection. Network and Scotland shared the same symbol but with local announcers.
