BBC Films at 25
In 1990, the BBC took a tentative step into UK cinematic territory. Today, it is an award-winning, internationally recognised department at the forefront of the British independent film industry, with over 250 films to its name, hundreds of awards, and a very special recognition in 2015 from BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema.
Beginning Saturday 17th May 2015, the BBC began showing a season of films to mark the 25th anniversary of BBC Films. BBC TWO Northern Ireland edited the 'Centenary' ident - originally used to mark 100 years of cinema - to introduce the films. Here, the ident is followed by the BBC Films opening logo.
